Resveratrol
As the first company to sell resveratrol in New Zealand, we have discussed its benefits extensively over the years. A recent count produced over 4000 studies and this list is growing, along with an exciting number of clinical trials being conducted on humans.
A recent human study conducted by Prof Patrick Schrauwen of Maastricht University in the Netherlands, has found that resveratrol mimics the metabolic effects similar to exercise and calorie restriction. Just two doses of 75mg per day were given to a group of obese men. After just 30 days, regular measurements showed that resveratrol had lowered sugar levels and improved insulin sensitivity, reduced triglycerides (the bad fats that increase the risk of heart attacks) as well as lowering blood pressure Previous studies also show some very promising results for people with blood sugar irregularities (often related to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and obesity).
A Hungarian study, found that just two doses of 5 milligrams of resveratrol daily, improved the body’s response to insulin in type 2 diabetics in just four weeks.

Grape Seed Extract
Grape seed extract is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals and slows down the aging process. It is considered an anti-aging wonder, and has also been the subject of multiple studies that demonstrate the polyphenols ability to support brain health, improve cognition and lower the risk of dementia. The latest study published in the journal Carcinogenesism, shows that grape seed extract is now being researched for its ability to fight certain cancers.
Grape seed extract creates conditions that are unfavourable to growth, by both damaging cancer cells' DNA and by stopping the pathways that allow repair. Prior research also indicates that men who take high doses of grape seed extract, over a longer period, have a significantly reduced risk of developing prostate cancer than men who don't take the supplement. Another interesting study has shown that when combined with resveratrol, the effectiveness of grape seed extract is boosted and this synergy provides great support for colon health.
