Discover the real-world results behind Lester’s Oil. Our human study explores how this advanced omega formulation may support key markers of wellbeing when it comes to healthy ageing.
Lester’s Oil® – Put to the Test
Lester’s Oil® is a unique combination of omega-3 fish oil and carefully selected nutrients, including vitamin D, CoQ10, lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin.
To better understand what happens when Lester’s Oil is taken by healthy adults, the product was investigated in a New Zealand study involving researchers from the University of Auckland, AgResearch and Plant & Food Research.
About the study
The study involved 30 healthy men and women aged 20–65 and used a randomised, double-blind, cross-over design.
Participants took Lester’s Oil for four weeks and a control oil for four weeks, with a four-week break between the two periods. Blood and other samples were collected so researchers could measure changes in a range of nutritional and biological markers.
Of the 30 people recruited, 27 completed the study.
Significant increases in omega-3 levels
One of the clearest findings was the change in participants’ omega-3 levels.
After four weeks of taking Lester’s Oil, researchers measured statistically significant increases in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA, DHA and DPA in participants’ blood.
EPA and DHA are well-known long-chain omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, while DPA is another long-chain omega-3.
The results show that following four weeks of supplementation with Lester’s Oil, increased levels of all three omega-3 fatty acids could be measured in participants’ blood.
Vitamin D levels also increased
The study also measured participants’ vitamin D levels.
After four weeks of taking Lester’s Oil, researchers found a statistically significant increase in serum vitamin D. A significant increase in lutein, another nutrient included in the Lester’s Oil formula, was also recorded.
What else did the study investigate?
Researchers looked at a broad range of measures, including blood lipids, inflammatory markers, oxidative stress, nutritional markers and quality of life.
While some measures changed significantly, others did not.
The key findings from the research are the measurable increases in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D.
The key findings
Following four weeks of taking Lester’s Oil, the study found statistically significant increases in participants’ blood levels of EPA, DHA, DPA and vitamin D.
Importantly, the research tested the finished Lester’s Oil formula, rather than simply relying on research into its individual ingredients.
